Buying Digital Camera Lenses
Will you be buying one or more digital camera lenses? Zoom lenses are available on most digital cameras. If you enjoy photography, but are primarily using your camera to photograph family outings, business events, or for taking pictures around your neighborhood, then you will not need more than the standard zoom lens.
While zoom lenses do not offer the greatest light, you can buy a flash that will give you more light when you need it.
But if you want to take more advanced pictures, distance shots, or shots in low lit areas, you should invest in fixed focal length lenses. If you own a digital camera that allows you to attach different lenses, you will be able to buy a few lenses that can be used at different times. These lenses are usually smaller, which means that they will fit easily in your camera bag. The disadvantage is that although you will be able to photograph people and events from farther away, your subject will appear farther away in the photograph as well.
When buying lenses, you should ask yourself how you want to use your digital camera. Unless you are into a certain type of photography or want to learn how to take different types of pictures, the zoom lens that comes with your camera should be plenty. Spending money on lenses that you will only use once or twice is not worth it.
But if you want to see what a fixed focal length lens will do for your pictures, you may want to buy a lens converter that can be attached your zoom lens. One converter in particular is the wide-angle converter, which will make your pictures seem wider. By using this type of lens converter, you may be sacrificing optical quality which is what gives your pictures clarity. Converters will not work for all model of digital camera.
